Hi, I’m Hazel – Welcome to H&H Homemade Crafts

This little corner of the internet began with a needle, some fabric, and a whole lot of love.

I started out making handmade cards and sewing clothes for my daughter—tiny dresses stitched with care, gifts crafted for birthdays, holidays, and just-because moments. Friends and family began asking for pieces of their own, and before long, I was setting up tables at local craft fairs, sharing my creations with the wider community.

The joy of making something meaningful—something that tells a story—never left me. And as my passion grew, so did the dream of building something lasting. That’s when my mum, Heather, joined me, and together we brought H&H Homemade Crafts to life.

We’re a mother–daughter team with a shared love for slow fashion, heartfelt gifting, and sustainable crafting. Every item we make is rooted in family, stitched with intention, and designed to bring joy. This blog is where I share our journey—behind-the-scenes stories, creative inspiration, and the heart that fuels our handmade business.

Thank you for being here. Whether you’re a fellow maker, a supporter of small business, or someone who simply loves the charm of handmade, we’re so glad you’ve found us.

Stitching Between Naps: Finding Time to Sew with a Little One at Home

There’s a certain hush that falls over the house when Poppy drifts off to sleep. The toys are still, the laundry can wait, and for a precious hour (if I’m lucky), the world softens. That’s when I sneak away to my sewing room, tea still warm, fabric waiting patiently and I let my hands do what they love most.

Sewing during nap time has become a kind of ritual. It’s not always predictable, and sometimes I only get as far as threading the machine before she stirs. But even those small moments, choosing a fabric, making a new pattern, finishing a seam, feel like tiny victories. They remind me that creativity doesn’t need a full afternoon; it just needs intention.

Some of my favourite pieces have come to life in these quiet windows. A little dress for Poppy, stitched while she slept beside me. A gift for a friend, sewn with the hum of the baby monitor in the background. These moments feel tender and personal, like the rhythm of motherhood and making are dancing together.

Running H&H Homemade Crafts means juggling a lot—family, business, and the beautiful chaos in between. But nap-time sewing is my gentle rebellion against the rush. It’s where I reconnect with why I started: to create with love, for the people I care about most.

So if you’re a fellow maker with little ones underfoot, know this: even the smallest scraps of time can hold magic. A few stitches here, a snip of fabric there—it all adds up. And sometimes, the quietest moments lead to the most heartfelt creations.
